National Teaching Council - GTLE

The National Teaching Council is mandated by Education Regulatory Bodies Act 2020 (Act 1023), section 60(b) to conduct examination for the licensing of persons who successfully complete teacher education programmes.
In order to be recognized as a teacher in Ghana, one must pass the Ghana Teacher Licensure Examination(GTLE).

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Candidates who have resit in the Subject Based GTLE can register for this sitting.

However, candidates who hold a minimum qualification of Bachelors Degree in education or Post Graduate Diploma in Education and wish to write the exams for the first time can register as New Candidates.

NOTE: This exams is available for candidates who have completed their teacher education programs.
Candidates who completed their programs in 2025 are required to have their Teaching Practice Scores uploaded before they can write the exams.
